Company to accelerate growth and scale production to help farmers address increasing threat from herbicide-resistant weeds
SEATTLE–(KEV LAG LUAM) - -Cov Neeg Hlau, an agriculture robotics company, today announced it secured $27 million in Series B financing from Anthos Capital, Ignition Partners, Fuse Venture Capital, Voyager Capital, Bolt and Liquid2 Ventures to accelerate the company’s growth. The funding will be used to scale production of the company’s products, grow its engineering team, establish regional sales and support for customers across the U.S. and invest in the innovation of new products and technology. This latest round of financing brings the company’s overall funding to $36 million.
“The already demanding task of weeding has only gotten harder for farmers to manage as more herbicide-resistant weeds develop and the cost of herbicides increases”
“This investment further validates our mission to create tools that utilize technology to address farmers’ toughest problems,” said Paul Mikesell, CEO and founder of Carbon Robotics. “Weeding is one of the biggest challenges farmers face, especially with the rise of herbicide-resistant weeds and increasing interest in organic and regenerative methods. This round of investment will enable us to scale our operations to meet the increasing demand for this technology. Additionally, this funding will allow our team to continue to innovate new products and identify revolutionary ways to apply technology to agriculture.”
Brian Ames, managing director of Anthos Capital, added, “the team’s multi-disciplinary expertise encompassing advanced AI and ML, computer vision, and thermal energy, positions Carbon Robotics to be an important player in driving the agriculture technology revolution.”
Thaum lub Plaub Hlis, Carbon Robotics tau tshaj tawm nws tiam tom ntej Autonomous Weeder, ib tus neeg tsav tsheb uas siv lub zog lasers los tshem tawm cov nroj tsuag los ntawm thermal zog, tsis muaj kev cuam tshuam cov av. Cov neeg hlau tso cai rau cov neeg ua liaj ua teb siv tshuaj tua tsiaj tsawg thiab txo cov neeg ua haujlwm kom tshem tawm cov nroj tsuag tsis xav tau thaum txhim kho kev ntseeg siab thiab kev kwv yees ntawm cov nqi, qoob loo tawm los thiab ntau dua.
nrog 263 herbicide-resistant hom thoob plaws 71 lub teb chaws, lub tuam txhab tau pom qhov kev thov siab rau nws cov khoom, ua kom muaj tus lej ntawm cov neeg cog qoob loo thiab cov ntawv sau npe uas tshaj $ 20 lab. Cov liaj teb uas tau txiav txim laser-weeding units suav nrog Grimmway Farms, Carzalia Valley Produce, Mercer Ranches, Taylor Farms, Triangle Farms, Terranova Ranch, Bowles Farming Co, Braga Ranch, Duncan Family Farms thiab Amigo Farms. Carbon Robotics tau muag tawm ntawm nws cov qauv 2021 thiab 2022 thiab tau pib txais kev txiav txim rau 2023.
Erik Benson, tus thawj coj ntawm Voyager Capital tau hais tias "Carbon Robotics yog qhov chaw tshwj xeeb los daws cov teeb meem tseem ceeb cuam tshuam rau cov neeg ua liaj ua teb, suav nrog kev nce ntawm superweeds thiab txo qis ntawm cov neeg ua haujlwm," said Erik Benson, tus thawj coj ntawm Voyager Capital. "Lub tuam txhab tab tom ua cov thev naus laus zis zoo tshaj plaws rau cov neeg ua liaj ua teb, txhawb nqa lawv txoj kev lag luam los ntawm kev txhim kho kev ua tau zoo thiab kev ntseeg siab thiab muab txoj hauv kev ruaj khov los txhawb kev tswj hwm lawv thaj av. Carbon Robotics yog lub hauv paus hloov pauv li cas cov neeg ua liaj ua teb cov nroj tsuag thiab muaj peev xwm ua tau ntau txhiab xyoo no Deere & Company. "
Raws li ib feem ntawm cov nyiaj txiag, Carbon Robotics txais tos Eric Scollard ua Tus Kws Pab Tswv Yim Muag Khoom los txhawb lub tuam txhab txoj kev loj hlob trajectory. Hauv nws lub luag haujlwm, Scollard yuav tsom mus rau kev tsim cov phiaj xwm nthuav dav uas yuav pab tau Carbon Robotics kom muaj txiaj ntsig zoo rau kev faib tawm ntawm Cov Tsiaj Txhaum Cai thiab cov khoom lag luam yav tom ntej. Scollard tseem yuav txhawb nqa kev txhim kho kev muag khoom thiab pab pawg txhawb nqa hauv cheeb tsam. Thaum lub sijhawm nws lub luag haujlwm dhau los ntawm ExtraHop, Isilon thiab Qumulo, Scollard tau tsav kev loj hlob ntawm cov nyiaj tau los thaum tsim cov koom haum muag khoom hauv ntiaj teb.
“The already demanding task of weeding has only gotten harder for farmers to manage as more herbicide-resistant weeds develop and the cost of herbicides increases,” said Cameron Borumand, general partner at FUSE. “Carbon Robotics has built a game-changing solution to solve one of the biggest problems in agriculture. Farmers have been innovative and resourceful in addressing this problem so far, but they deserve the best technology to help them execute one of the most important jobs in the world—putting food on people’s tables.”
