The training of agribusinesses in the Rosselkhoznadzor project “Farmer’s School” is in full swing. Since the end of September, almost every day 30 farmers from the Orel region study theory and practice in the areas of “Poultry farming” and “Vegetable growing”. Ahead of them is the development and protection of business plans for the organization of their own production. Newcomers will start agribusiness from scratch, and more experienced participants will increase the efficiency of existing farms.
The training began with the basics of farming organization: registration of farms, legal support of activities, interaction in agricultural cooperatives. In the “Economics and Farm Management” block, students studied certification and licensing issues, the Mercury system, learned more about state support measures, receiving grants for the development of agribusiness, as well as the basics of accounting and taxation. After studying general disciplines and intermediate certification, the groups were divided into specialties.
Anastasia Izvekova studies poultry farming, plans to create a closed poultry farm for laying hens: “There are not enough egg producers in our region, while there is a great demand from buyers for farm poultry products. Ideally, I would like a farm with different breeds of laying hens, now I’m looking closely, studying breeds, developing an optimal strategy.”
The participant of the project noted the convenient format of teaching. “Theory is taught remotely and lecture recordings are available after the live broadcast – I revise at a convenient time, you can always return to the right topic. It is also very valuable that in addition to classical theory, which is taught to us as students, the university also invites active poultry farmers to lectures, who give us information not in an academic way, but “first-hand”. This is an invaluable experience that you can’t get anywhere else. I am very happy that I got into the project,” Anastasia said.
One of the students in the “Farmer’s School” was an experienced farmer Ekaterina Perelygina. She studies vegetable growing indoors.
“I already have greenhouses – I grow tomatoes, cucumbers and sell them in my EcoEd store. In addition to greenhouses, we keep cows and produce dairy products. The business is three years old. You could say I’m a fan of farm and eco-products. I am looking for manufacturers with the same approach, I invite them to present their assortment on the shelves of EcoEda,” Ekaterina noted.
The existing experience did not prevent her from learning a lot of new things during the course: “I received a lot of valuable information on agronomy, soil science. There was a lack of knowledge on the maintenance of plants in greenhouses in winter – what trace elements they need, what is the optimal daylight. I saw the causes of the problems I had encountered earlier and tried to fix them at random, by selection. Now I’m more confident. In the future, I plan to start growing sweet peppers, herbs and strawberries.”
“Farmer’s School” is a federal educational project of the Rosselkhoznadzor, which is implemented on the basis of leading agricultural universities and agricultural enterprises for the training of professional personnel for agriculture. In September, 30 people went to the Orel “Farmer’s School”, 8 of them are active farmers, the rest have personal subsidiary farms. The training is conducted by teachers of the N. V. Parakhin State Agrarian University, specialists of the Oryol Region Competence Center and the Department of Agriculture, and in terms of financial issues – heads of business units of the Oryol branch of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
JSC “Rosselkhoznadzor” is among the largest and most stable banks in the country in terms of assets and capital. There are 18 service offices within the regional network of the Oryol branch.
